Our Director
Sherry Lewis has been a vocal and instrumental performer from childhood years and graduated with a music minor from David Lipscomb University. Teaching for 17 years in public and private schools included many years as a choral director. Sherry has also done session work in Nashville as a backup singer for commercials, producers’ demos, and major label artists. She has been active in group and individual instruction, workshops, and productions in several communities.
As a member of Sweet Adelines International since 1989, Sherry was associate director of the International Championship chorus Toast of Tampa, prior to becoming director of TuneTown Show Chorus. She has served on the Music Faculty of SAI in both Regions 9 and 23. Her quartets include 4-time Region 9 silver medalist/Int’l Wildcard competitor Marquee, 4-time Region 23 gold medalist/Int’l competitor Reckon So, and Regional gold medalist/Int’l competitor Fiddlestix. TuneTown Show Chorus received its first International medal in 2005, achieving a score high enough to qualify Sherry for the coveted Master Director, the highest director level awarded by the organization.
Sherry continues to be an active chorus, quartet and individual vocal and visual coach and is an SAI Master Mentor. She has 3 grown children: Bobby’s a Nashville Attorney, Cyndi’s a Retail Assistant Manager & member of TuneTown, and youngest Lon who is a musician and receiving his A&P certification...all in Nashville. She says those wonderful kids and music are her inspiration! At the end of each rehearsal, Sherry tells the chorus to “make the dash count” hoping to inspire the singers to be all they can be each week. Those of you who’ve heard that poem will appreciate the aphorism. TuneTown Show Chorus is fortunate to have this gifted, dedicated and talented woman as our director.
